Procon Campo Grande hosts lecture to protect elderly from scams
The Municipal Procon of Campo Grande is hosting the second edition of its 'Alerta Consumidor' lecture series. The event, held at the Edmundo Scheunemann Elderly Coexistence Center in Vila Ipiranga, is designed to educate senior citizens on fraud prevention and their legal rights.
Topics covered during the session include protection against unsolicited payroll loans, internet shopping scams, and fraudulent communications via telephone or messaging applications. The initiative is part of the city's 127th-anniversary celebrations. José Costa Neto, the superintendent of Consumer Protection and Defense, emphasized that the agency's goal is to move beyond reactive complaint handling toward proactive prevention by bringing information directly to the elderly community.
