Procon Goiás reports up to 605% price variation for All Souls' Day items
A price survey conducted by Procon Goiás in the Goiânia Metropolitan Region revealed significant price discrepancies for items used during All Souls' Day (Finados). The study, which evaluated 32 items across 20 establishments between October 16 and 20, found that Belgian flower pots showed the highest variation at 605.88%, with prices ranging from R$ 8.50 to R$ 60.
Other notable price fluctuations included red roses, which varied by 512.24% (R$ 29.40 to R$ 180), and lily pots, which saw a 400% difference (R$ 19.99 to R$ 100). Candles also showed a 300% variation, with 5x5 candles priced between R$ 3 and R$ 12.
Procon Goiás advises consumers to conduct thorough price research and consider purchasing items in advance to avoid last-minute surges. The agency also reminded retailers that prices must be clearly displayed and that any installment payment options must explicitly state the cash price, the total amount for installments, interest rates, and the number of payments.
