Procon-JP finds large price variations in meat survey
The Municipal Secretariat for Consumer Protection and Defense of João Pessoa (Procon-JP) conducted a price survey across 22 establishments, including supermarkets and open-air markets, covering 71 types of meat and eggs.
The study revealed significant price disparities. The largest variation was found in national picanha, which ranged from R$ 40.00 to R$ 129.00 per kilogram, representing a 222.50% difference. Other notable variations included beef fillet without cord (118.33% variation) and beef fillet with cord (122.50% variation).
Additional findings showed price gaps in alcatra (74.98% variation), maminha (70.74% variation), and chicken gizzards (148.75% variation).
