Procon-JP shuts down fuel pumps in João Pessoa over irregularities

In João Pessoa, the Municipal Secretariat for Consumer Protection (Procon-JP) conducted the ‘Safe Fuel Operation,’ resulting in the temporary closure of two fuel pumps at a station in the Torre neighborhood. The inspection revealed irregular flow rates in both a regular gasoline pump and an additive gasoline pump.

Procon-JP Secretary Júnior Pires stated that the equipment exceeded the volumetric margins permitted by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), with discrepancies exceeding 100ml. The station faces potential fines and must regularize its equipment to resume service.

Authorities have introduced the ‘Procon-JP Digital 2.0’ platform, which allows consumers to monitor inspections in real time via an interactive map on the agency’s website.
