Procon-JP warns against minimum order requirements for delivery in Paraíba
The Municipal Secretariat for Consumer Protection and Defense of João Pessoa (Procon-JP) has issued an alert regarding the illegality of minimum order requirements for delivery services in Paraíba. According to state law 13.826/2025 and the Brazilian Consumer Defense Code (CDC), delivery platforms are prohibited from forcing customers to purchase additional items to meet a minimum spending threshold.
Procon-JP secretary Júnior Pires noted that the agency has already taken action against companies like iFood for these practices. Violations of these regulations can result in written warnings, fines of 1,000 Ufirs for repeat offenders, and, in extreme cases, the temporary suspension of business activities for up to 30 days. Consumers are encouraged to report any instances of minimum order requirements to the agency.
