Procon Maceió monitors prices ahead of Best Friday sales
Procon Maceió has launched a price monitoring initiative to prepare for the Best Friday promotional campaign in November. The agency is tracking price variations in local commercial establishments to ensure transparency and protect consumers from deceptive practices.
Research teams are focusing on high-demand sectors, including electronics, home appliances, furniture, and household goods. A primary goal of the monitoring is to prevent “price makeup,” an abusive practice where retailers artificially inflate prices before a sale to simulate deeper discounts.
To ensure safe shopping, Procon Maceió recommends that consumers research prices in the weeks leading up to the event to verify real savings. The agency also advises shoppers to be cautious of excessively high discounts and to always demand a tax invoice (Nota Fiscal) to secure consumer rights regarding warranties and exchanges.
