Procon-MT reports up to 137% price variation in toy market

Procon-MT conducted a price survey of 64 toy items in the retail market for Cuiabá and Várzea Grande ahead of Children's Day. The study, conducted between October 6 and 8, 2026, identified price variations of up to 137.63% among major brands and manufacturers.

The largest discrepancy was found in the ‘Miraculous Ladybug Musical (45cm)’ toy, which ranged from R$ 129.99 to R$ 308.90, a difference of R$ 178.91. The survey focused on official department store websites and included items such as dolls, board games, and modeling clay.

According to Procon-MT, the initiative aims to provide price transparency to assist consumers in making informed decisions and to encourage market competition. Data showed that 93.8% of the sampled items were available in stock online at one of the four surveyed retailers.
