Brazil consumer protection agencies launch various monitoring and guidance actions

Consumer protection agencies across Brazil are implementing several initiatives to safeguard citizens. In Pará, Procon has released a list of permitted school supplies for 2027, clarifying that institutions cannot demand collective hygiene products like soap or alcohol gel, nor office supplies like staplers or printer ink.

In preparation for Black Friday, Procon units in Paraná and Várzea Grande have intensified monitoring to prevent false promotions and deceptive advertising. Authorities are advising consumers to research price histories and exercise caution with digital security to avoid online scams.

In Brasília, representatives from Procon Acre are participating in the National Consumer Relationship Seminar (Semarc Nacional). Organized by Febraban, the event focuses on improving transparency in banking services and preventing fraud in digital financial operations.

Additionally, in Manaus, the Citizen Service Centers (PAC) are facilitating access to essential services, including document issuance and debt negotiation. Meanwhile, in João Pessoa, a joint operation by the Public Ministry and sanitary surveillance led to the partial closure of a hotel kitchen after inspectors found expired food and sanitary irregularities.
