MP‑Procon fines establishments in Monteiro, Paraíba
The Public Ministry’s Consumer Protection office (MP‑Procon) carried out a fiscalisation operation in the municipality of Monteiro, in the Cariri region of Paraíba. Inspectors from the agency, the state fire brigade and the military police examined three pharmacies and three fuel stations. Four locations – two pharmacies and two gasoline stations – were cited for infractions such as expired operating licenses, missing fire‑department certificates, lack of the required Technical Responsibility Annotation (ART), absence of the Consumer Defense Code displayed to the public, missing information on CPF‑based discounts and the Procon contact number, and, in the pharmacies, the unavailability of the Farmácia Popular medication list and generic‑drug lists in braille. Two establishments were found compliant. The operation was coordinated by MP‑Procon directors Bergson Formiga and Osvaldo Barbosa, underscoring the agency’s commitment to enforce consumer‑rights and safety regulations in the state.
