Procría Program holds first monitoring meeting in Uruguay

The Monitoring Commission of the Procría Program held its first meeting in Montevideo to evaluate progress and strengthen livestock breeding policies in Uruguay. The meeting included officials from the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) and the Plan Agropecuario Institute (IPA), alongside representatives from academia, rural organizations, and producers.

Minister Alfredo Fratti emphasized that the program’s success depends on its benefits to producers, noting that high participation from both technicians and producers has fostered a climate of trust. The program aims to improve national breeding indices through measurable results and collaborative work.

Santiago Scarlato, president of the Plan Agropecuario Institute and coordinator of Procría, described the commission as a consultative space for dialogue and accountability. He reported that the program is currently working with 900 production units.
