ProDominicana launches Mujer Exporta+ to support female exporters
ProDominicana has launched ‘Mujer Exporta+’, a digital platform designed to support Dominican female entrepreneurs in accessing international markets. Developed with support from the European Union, the tool aims to bridge information gaps by centralizing national and international resources, programs, and services into a single accessible space.
The platform is organized into four key pathways: Learn, Boost, Export, and Connect. This initiative follows data showing that while women lead 12% of the country's exporting companies, 81% of these businesses export less than $100,000 annually, highlighting a need for increased capacity and operational volume.
In a related economic trend, Dominican female-led companies exported $2.145 billion between January and July 2026. Meanwhile, agricultural data shows a paradox in the pineapple sector: while domestic production rose from 195 million units in 2021 to approximately 406 million in 2025, export volumes have trended downward, suggesting increased domestic consumption.
