Ghosthing film set for release in Indonesia

The horror-comedy film ‘Ghosthing’, produced by Imperial Pictures and directed by Arie Aziz, is scheduled for release in Indonesian cinemas on October 15, 2026. The story follows Alfian, an indigo mortician played by Baskara Mahendra, and Maya, an influencer spirit played by Yasamin Jasem, who must uncover the cause of Maya’s death within 40 days.

Executive producer Peter Surya Wijaya expressed interest in the project due to its unique premise, noting that the blend of horror and comedy offers a different cinematic experience. Wijaya highlighted the potential of the comedy genre and praised Yasamin Jasem’s acting performance.

Both lead actors discussed the creative challenges of the film. Yasamin Jasem focused on mastering situational comedy and maintaining a natural dialogue rhythm, while Baskara Mahendra emphasized the difficulty of conveying humor through character reactions to unusual situations rather than just through dialogue. Mahendra also noted that the character of Alfian possesses a strong emotional depth that becomes prominent toward the end of the story.
