Prof. Matějček Secondary School in Ostrava receives new sports complex
The Moravian-Silesian Region has completed the construction of a new modern sports and educational complex at the Prof. Zdeněk Matějček Secondary School in Ostrava-Poruba. The project, which cost approximately 11.7 million CZK, transformed previously unused land between school buildings into a multifunctional facility.
The new area includes a multi-purpose court with modern artificial surfacing, a running track with a long jump pit, a relaxation zone with a natural lawn, and an outdoor classroom. The facility is designed to support physical education, practical vocational training, and leisure activities for students, including those residing in the school's youth dormitory.
To further enhance the site, students from the school's gardening programs will participate in landscaping and aesthetic improvements of the area. Regional officials noted that the investment serves as a long-term commitment to student health, development, and the overall quality of the educational environment.
