Prof Syed Mudasir Andrabi Receives Prestigious JC Bose Fellowship

Prof Syed Mudasir Andrabi, a professor and head of the Division of Animal Biotechnology at the Sher‑e‑Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST‑K), was awarded the JC Bose Fellowship, one of India's highest scientific honors. The fellowship recognizes his sustained excellence in biotechnology research, innovation and leadership, citing his work on molecular diagnostics, vaccine development, regenerative medicine and the One Health approach. Andrabi leads multiple nationally funded projects supported by agencies such as the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, the Department of Biotechnology, the Department of Science and Technology, the Indian Council of Medical Research and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. His notable innovations include a recombinant Lactobacillus‑based vaccine against poultry salmonellosis, a multiplex PCR kit for rickettsial infections, a digital PCR‑based epigenetic diagnostic platform, and advanced burn‑recovery biomaterials, together with 13 granted patents.
