Profeco concludes 2026 Back to School Fairs in Mexico

The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) has concluded its 2026 Back to School Fairs, which were held across 55 locations in Mexico from July 31 to September 4. The event saw an attendance of approximately 203,000 people and featured the participation of 1,258 providers.

Participants were able to purchase school supplies, uniforms, footwear, technology, and educational materials at discounted prices. In addition to retail, the fairs offered free services including vaccinations, medical and vision exams, haircuts, and recreational activities.

Major attendance hubs included Plaza Valladolid in Morelia, Michoacán, with 45,000 attendees, and the Plaza de los Fundadores in Irapuato, Guanajuato, with over 20,000. Other high-traffic locations included Cuajimalpa in Mexico City, Durango, and Ecatepec. A special edition was also held at Expo Reforma in August, which included workshops on responsible consumption and nutrition.
