Profeco flags LactiLac dairy beverage for misleading labeling

Mexico's Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) conducted an analysis of 85 brands of milk and ultra-pasteurized dairy products available in supermarkets and convenience stores. The study, published in the September 2025 Consumer Magazine, found that 84 of the 85 products complied with official standards regarding protein, fat, casein, lactose, and non-fat solids.

One product, LactiLac, failed the evaluation. Sold exclusively at Tiendas 3B, the 950 ml ultra-pasteurized dairy beverage with added vegetable fat was flagged for misleading labeling and denomination. Profeco stated the product “can be confusing and misleading” for consumers, though it does not pose a health risk. The agency recommended that consumers avoid the product until the responsible company addresses the observations regarding its compliance with Mexican Official Standards (NOM-155-SCFI-2012 and NOM-183-SCFI-2012).
