Profeco identifies quality issues in women's denim jeans

The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), through its National Consumer Protection Laboratory, conducted a quality study on 23 models of women's denim jeans to evaluate durability, resistance, and dimensional stability. The study included five models made of 100% cotton and 18 made with fiber blends.

While all models provided complete commercial information and the 100% cotton models received high marks for finishes and durability, several irregularities were identified. Specifically, a Silver Plate model (D9110) labeled as 100% cotton was found to contain polyester. Additionally, a Weekend brand model was found to be one size smaller than indicated and prone to twisting, while an Oggi brand garment showed significant discoloration after washing.
