Profeco launches surveillance operation for Fiestas Patrias 2026
Mexico’s Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) has launched the ‘Fiestas Patrias 2026’ verification and surveillance program. Running from September 14 to September 16, the operation aims to ensure that providers and service providers offering goods and services related to the national celebrations comply with the Federal Consumer Protection Law.
Through its 38 Consumer Defense Offices (Odeco) across the country, Profeco will inspect various establishments, including supermarkets, department stores, convenience stores, restaurants, bars, entertainment centers, butcher shops, and public parking lots.
Inspectors will verify that prices and rates are clearly and legibly displayed, including the total amount to be paid. The agency will also ensure that advertised promotions are honored, advertising is truthful, and that measurement instruments, such as scales and time clocks, are properly calibrated and adjusted.
