Profepa identifies 130 rescued animals in Tamaulipas

The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) has issued an expert report regarding more than 130 animals rescued during a search warrant executed by the Special Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime in Tamaulipas.

Of the rescued animals, 90 specimens are listed under national or international protection status, such as the NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010 standard or the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The rescued wildlife includes large carnivores like hyenas and jaguars, as well as primates and spider monkeys.

Profepa reported that the animals are currently in favorable physical and health conditions. The agency is working with relevant authorities to ensure continued care and nutrition while determining a suitable final destination for the specimens.
