Profertil to invest $1.7 billion in Bahía Blanca fertilizer plant expansion
Profertil and the Municipality of Bahía Blanca have signed a cooperation agreement to advance a major industrial expansion at the company’s complex in Ingeniero White, Argentina. The project involves an estimated investment of $1.7 billion to install a new integrated production line for ammonia and granulated urea.
The expansion aims to increase annual production capacity by 1.5 million tons. Once completed, the facility is expected to produce 2.82 million tons of urea per year by 2031, making it the largest fertilizer plant in Latin America. This growth is intended to strengthen domestic supply and increase export capabilities.
The construction phase is estimated to last 45 months, with a final investment decision expected in 2027. The agreement seeks to facilitate necessary administrative processes, promote local employment, and encourage the use of regional suppliers to boost the economic development of the Bahía Blanca region.
