Professional cleaner shares DIY carpet stain removal method
Professional cleaner Sarah-Jane Hoadley, founder of The Clean Group, recommends a homemade three-ingredient paste for tackling stubborn carpet stains. The mixture consists of half a cup of bicarbonate of soda, one tablespoon of mild washing-up liquid, and one to two tablespoons of warm water.
To use the solution, users should blot excess liquid from the stain, work the paste into the carpet fibers using a brush, and allow it to soak for 10 to 15 minutes before removing residue with a damp cloth. It is advised to test the solution on a small, hidden area first to ensure color-fastness, particularly when using colored washing-up liquids.
