Professional credentials drive financial advisor referrals
A survey by the Investments & Wealth Institute reveals that professional credentials significantly influence client referral rates among high-net-worth individuals. According to the research, 68% of investors with over $500,000 in investable assets are more likely to refer friends or family if their advisor holds advanced professional certifications. This preference increases to 74% for clients with assets exceeding $5 million.
The study highlights a strong correlation between an advisor's credentials, client confidence, and the likelihood of referrals. Sean Walters, CEO of the Investments & Wealth Institute, noted that clients with high financial confidence are approximately five times more likely to make referrals than those with low confidence. Furthermore, 87% of clients who made referrals were aware of their advisor's advanced certifications, compared to only 59% of those who did not provide referrals.
