Bayer Leverkusen considers Jonas Hofmann departure to Al Shabab
Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly prepared to allow veteran midfielder Jonas Hofmann to leave the club, potentially on a free transfer. Despite having a contract until 2027, the 34-year-old has seen his influence diminish, a trend highlighted by his omission from the club's Europa League squad.
Al Shabab of the Saudi Pro League has expressed interest in Hofmann. A move would provide Leverkusen with financial relief, saving approximately 3 million euros in salary costs. While coach Carles Martínez noted that Hofmann remains available for training and could assist with current wing depth, the club appears to have already planned for his departure.
Separately, Leverkusen coach Carles Martínez expressed continued confidence in striker Victor Boniface. Although Boniface was not included in the Europa League squad due to ongoing recovery from a knee injury, Martínez praised the Nigerian's progress and emphasized his importance to the team's goal-scoring capabilities once fully fit.
