Professional Golf Tour of India launches player support programme
The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has introduced a new support programme designed to help Indian professional golfers transition to international circuits. The initiative targets the top 30 players from the Order of Merit, providing up to Rs 3 lakh to cover expenses for overseas qualifying schools.
This financial assistance applies to qualifying schools for the DP World Tour, the Japan Golf Tour, and the Asian Tour. Additionally, players who successfully secure qualification for these international tours will receive a further Rs 10 lakh.
PGTI President Kapil Dev stated that the organization aims to provide players with maximum playing opportunities on the international stage by removing financial barriers. The program is part of a broader strategy to expand golf in tier-two and tier-three cities, increase domestic prize money, and host more Asian Development Tour events.
