Professor Alcides announces retirement from politics

Federal Deputy Professor Alcides (PSDB) has announced his retirement from politics following his failure to secure a third term in the Chamber of Deputies. The decision was communicated to his parliamentary and political office staff during a meeting this week.

Alcides intends to focus exclusively on his business and academic pursuits, specifically projects related to the Centro Universitário Alfredo Nasser (Unifan), an institution he founded in Aparecida de Goiânia. He informed collaborators that his professional partnership will conclude on December 31, 2026, to allow for a transition to this new stage of his career.

Despite receiving 61,685 votes, the result was insufficient for reelection. The outcome follows a difficult election cycle for the PSDB in Goiás, marked by internal political conflicts and the departure of several members. As a result of these election outcomes, the PSDB will lack representation from Goiás in the next legislature of the Chamber of Deputies.
