Professor Ji-soo Kim receives Barany Society Achievement Award
Professor Ji-soo Kim of the Department of Neurology at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital has been honored with the Barany Society Achievement Award. The award was presented during the 33rd Barany Society Meeting held at the Shanghai International Convention Center from October 15 to 18.
The award was newly established to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Robert Barany, a Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine. Professor Kim was recognized for her 30 years of research in dizziness and oculomotor disorders, her contributions to international academic exchange, and her role in developing international diagnostic standards for vestibular diseases.
Throughout her career, Professor Kim has authored over 500 SCI-indexed papers, including significant research on Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) published in the New England Journal of Medicine. She currently serves as the chair of the vascular dizziness division of the Barany Society and is an editorial board member for the society’s official journal. This marks her third honor from the society, following the Young Investigator Award in 2006 and the Hallpike-Nylen Prize in 2014.
