Professor Kim Hee-jin selected for National Research Foundation project

Professor Kim Hee-jin of the Department of Psychiatry at Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital has been selected as the principal investigator for a new project under the National Research Foundation of Korea’s 2026 Basic Research Program.

The research project, titled ‘Differences in Attention and Brain Response According to the Characteristics of Media Content for Infants and Toddlers,’ aims to investigate how specific types of media content—such as short-form videos and various video platforms—affect the attention, brain response, and development of young children.

Unlike previous studies that primarily focused on the total amount of time spent on media, this study will analyze the specific nature of the content being consumed. Professor Kim noted that it is necessary to look beyond mere usage time to understand how the type and method of exposure influence neurodevelopmental characteristics. The findings are expected to help establish guidelines and policies for healthy digital media environments for infants in South Korea.
