Professor Nguyen Thanh Vinh has been awarded the 2026 Mary Garson Medal by the Royal Australian Institute of Chemistry (RACI). The award recognizes his outstanding achievements and leadership in the field of organic chemistry.

The medal was presented during the RACI National Congress held in Perth, Western Australia, between July 5 and July 10, 2026. This marks the second time Professor Vinh has received an award from RACI, having previously won the Athel Beckwith Medal in 2016 for his work as a young organic chemist.

Nguyen Thanh Vinh is well-known in Vietnam as the runner-up of the first season of the Đường lên đỉnh Olympia competition in 2000. He also won a silver medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad that same year. He completed his undergraduate studies in Industrial Chemistry at the University of New South Wales and earned his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Australian National University.
