Professor Seo Kyoung-duk and singer Kim Jang-hoon release Dokdo promotional video
Professor Seo Kyoung-duk of Sungshin Women's University and singer Kim Jang-hoon have collaborated to produce a four-minute promotional video titled ‘People Who Protected Dokdo’. Released to commemorate Dokdo Day on October 25, the video is available in both Korean and English.
The production, co-created with the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation Content Promotion Agency, traces the history of Dokdo from the Joseon Dynasty era of An Yong-bok to the activities of the Dokdo Volunteer Guard in the 1950s. It also highlights the contemporary roles of those currently stationed on the island, including the Dokdo Management Office, 119 rescue workers, the Dokdo Guard, lighthouse keepers, and the Coast Guard.
To engage younger audiences, the video utilizes characters from the Netflix animation ‘Gangchi Island’. Professor Seo noted that the video aims to ensure the efforts of those who protected the territory are remembered by future generations, while Kim Jang-hoon provided the Korean narration.
