Professor Sibel Oğuz Haçat passes away

Professor Sibel Oğuz Haçat, a faculty member in the Social Studies Education Department at Kastamonu University, has passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital.

Haçat graduated from Gazi University in 2005 and completed her graduate and doctoral studies at the Gazi University Institute of Educational Sciences. Before her academic career, she served as a social studies teacher under the Ministry of National Education in Ankara from 2007 to 2009. She joined Kastamonu University as a research assistant in 2010, became an associate professor in 2019, and eventually attained the rank of professor.

Her academic contributions include supervising numerous graduate theses and editing the book ‘Institutions Training Teachers in Kastamonu’. While official statements confirm her passing in a hospital, specific medical details regarding the cause of death have not been released.

Her funeral is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026. Following a ceremony in front of the Kastamonu University Faculty of Education, the funeral prayer will be held at the Kuzeykent Ulu Mosque, with burial to follow at the Ahmet Dede Cemetery.
