Professor Thalappil Pradeep to join VinFuture Award Council
Professor Thalappil Pradeep, the scientist recognized for developing low-cost technology to produce clean water for approximately 7 VND per liter, will return to the VinFuture Award in 2026 as a member of the Award Council.
In 2022, Pradeep received the VinFuture Special Prize for scientists from developing countries, valued at $500,000, for his research on low-cost filtration systems for water contaminated with arsenic and heavy metals.
Pradeep noted that his research has evolved through three major stages: addressing individual clean water problems, creating ‘water intelligence’ through the integration of AI, Big Data, and IoT, and building a technological ecosystem to empower communities. He also highlighted the work of the International Centre for Clean Water, which has supported more than 40 businesses in establishing and operating water-related technologies.
