Professor Todor Kantardzhiev criticizes Bulgarian politicians over public health

Epidemiologist Professor Todor Kantardzhiev has issued a sharp critique of Bulgarian politicians regarding their handling of public health. Speaking on the BNT program ‘Denyat Zapochva’, Kantardzhiev emphasized the necessity of strong leadership during public health threats, arguing that political indecision and the shifting of responsibility can endanger lives.

Kantardzhiev expressed a lack of respect for officials who he claims do not prioritize the lives and health of the citizenry. He also addressed the issue of vaccine shortages, attributing the situation to a lack of authority when dealing with manufacturers. He noted that previous political decisions, such as appointing an anti-vaccine minister, have negatively impacted the country's standing with pharmaceutical companies, leading to the withdrawal of certain vaccines.
