Programming concepts: Implementing tuples in Python and Java
Programming languages utilize tuples as ordered, immutable sequences to group multiple values of potentially different types into a single, fixed-size structure.
In Python, a tuple is a built-in sequence where positions cannot be reassigned after creation. This makes them suitable for representing stable records, such as sensor data or coordinate pairs. While tuples are immutable, they can contain nested collections, and their contents must be hashable if the tuple is to be used as a dictionary key.
Java does not have a native, built-in tuple type in the same manner as Python. Developers typically implement tuple-like behavior using records (introduced in Java 16) for named parts, Map.Entry for simple pairs, or external libraries such as Apache Commons Lang or the javatuples library to handle more complex structures like Triples.
