Progreso Port modernization enters third phase in Yucatán
The second phase of the expansion and modernization of the Puerto de Altura de Progreso in Yucatán has been completed. Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena and the director of Asipona, Jorge Carlos Tobilla Rodríguez, confirmed the project's progress during a monthly evaluation meeting.
The second phase, managed by SSA Marine México with a private investment of 948 million pesos, involved dredging the cruise area to accommodate larger vessels. This follows the first phase, which was executed by the state government with an investment of 1,630 million pesos and created hundreds of jobs.
The total master plan for the project involves three phases with a global investment exceeding 12.5 billion pesos. The goal is to triple the port's operational capacity, improve draft conditions, and expand general infrastructure. The bidding process for the third phase, which will be managed by the Mexican federal government, is expected to be announced in the coming days.
