Morocco forms new four-party coalition government

Morocco's Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) has announced the formation of a new governing coalition following the September 23 legislative elections. The coalition, led by Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri—the country's first female prime minister—consists of four parties: Authenticity and Modernity, Istiqlal, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces, and the Party of Progress and Socialism.

The alliance holds a parliamentary majority of 207 seats, surpassing the 198-seat threshold required for control of the House of Representatives. The parties have committed to proposing ministerial candidates based on competence, political sense, and integrity to form a cohesive government.

The new administration faces significant economic and social challenges, including rising costs of living, unemployment, and the need for social justice and territorial equity. Additionally, the government will oversee preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Portugal and Spain.
