Progress and Socialism Party outlines political vision for Morocco
Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, Secretary-General of the Progress and Socialism Party, has outlined the party's political vision for Morocco leading toward 2026. Following a nationwide tour, Benabdallah reported widespread public dissatisfaction alongside a desire for a more just and dignified nation.
The party's platform focuses on addressing several critical socio-economic challenges in Morocco, including:
• Poverty: Addressing the 2.5 million Moroccans living below the poverty line, particularly the 72% located in rural areas. • Healthcare: Resolving the exclusion of 8.5 million citizens from health insurance coverage. • Employment: Tackling a 13% general unemployment rate and a 37% youth unemployment rate, specifically targeting the 2.9 million ‘NEET’ youth (not in education, employment, or training). • Gender Equality: Addressing the low female labor force participation rate of 19%. • Corruption: Responding to Morocco's ranking of 91st in the Corruption Perceptions Index.
Benabdallah emphasized that the party aims to represent the lived reality of the Moroccan people rather than the perspectives of the wealthy, positioning the left as the key to social justice and reform.
