Progress Party hits 18-year polling high in Norway

A new Norfakta poll conducted for Klassekampen and Nationen shows the Progress Party (Frp) reaching 33.4 percent support, marking its highest level since 2008. This represents a 4.5 percentage point increase from August.

In contrast, the Conservative Party (Høyre) has seen a decline, falling to 13.2 percent, its lowest level since 2009. The gap between the two parties has widened to 20.2 percentage points. Data indicates that Frp has gained significant numbers of voters from both the Conservative Party and the Labour Party (Arbeiderpartiet).

Election researcher Johannes Bergh suggests the results may indicate that the Progress Party is establishing itself as a governing party on the center-right. The poll also shows several other parties, including SV, the Centre Party, and MDG, hovering near the electoral threshold.
