Progressive Governors Forum clashes with Nyesom Wike

Political tensions have escalated between the 31-member Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. The dispute centers on Wike’s political alignment and the potential impact of his coalition on the ruling party’s stability.

The PGF, led by Hope Uzodinma, has expressed concerns regarding Wike’s influence and his efforts to form a coalition. Governors within the forum are wary of external groups fragmenting grassroots loyalties or weakening the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections. APC chieftain Farouk Aliyu noted that Wike’s recent actions have caused significant political distraction.
