Project SEARCH expands supported employment programs in healthcare

Project SEARCH, an internationally recognized supported employment program for young people with disabilities, is expanding its impact through healthcare partnerships in Australia and the United Kingdom.

In Australia, Northern Health has launched a new initiative at its Epping campuses. Running through December 2026, the program will host ten interns who will undergo structured workplace rotations in various departments, including Patient Services, Infection Control, and Allied Health. The program aims to provide hands-on experience and practical skills to support long-term employment outcomes, with support from WISE Employment staff.

In the United Kingdom, students from Barking & Dagenham College recently celebrated their graduation from a Project SEARCH supported internship program at Queen’s Hospital. The program helps young adults aged 16 to 24 with Education, Health and Care Plans transition from education to the workforce by combining practical placements with tailored coaching and classroom learning.
