Projet Animaux Zoopolis launches protests against pet fairs and animal use in film

The animal rights organization Projet Animaux Zoopolis (PAZ) is leading several campaigns in France to protest the commercialization and exploitation of animals.

In Fontainebleau, PAZ is opposing the "Univers du chiot & chaton" event scheduled for August 8-9. The association criticizes the pet salon as a "showcase for a business based on the commodification of animals" and expresses concerns that legal requirements intended to prevent impulsive purchases, such as the mandatory commitment certificate, may be bypassed. PAZ has called on local officials to ban such commercial fairs, noting that cities like Avignon and Toulouse have already implemented similar restrictions.

Separately, PAZ is organizing demonstrations in Antibes and Cannes to protest the use of a captive black panther named Ranny in the film "Le Triangle d’or." The association argues that using trained wild animals for film production is a "cruel and anachronistic" practice. Following unsuccessful attempts to engage with the film's producer, activists plan to hold gatherings near cinemas to distribute leaflets and raise awareness regarding animal captivity in the entertainment industry.
