Projeto Caju distributes 10,000 seedlings to farmers in Ceará

The Projeto Caju is distributing 10,000 cashew seedlings to 107 farmers across 15 communities in the semi-arid region of Ceará. Managed by the organization Amigos do Bem and funded by the AGCO Agriculture Foundation with over R$ 100,000, the initiative targets climate-resilient crops to stabilize income for vulnerable families.

As part of the project, 70 farmers received training on orchard implementation, including soil preparation, fertilization, and pruning techniques. The cashew tree was selected specifically for its high tolerance to heat and limited water availability. The funding covers seedling production, technical support, monitoring, and administrative costs, with future training planned for pre-harvest and post-harvest management.
