Projeto Cidadão Holds Collective Wedding for 235 Couples in Acre

A collective civil marriage ceremony organized by the Projeto Cidadão program took place in Acre during the Expoacre 2026 fair, joining 235 couples in a single celebration. The event, led by judge Luana Campos, offered free legal registration of unions, a service the program provides at no cost to participants.

The ceremony marked the 30th anniversary of Projeto Cidadão, a permanent initiative of the Acre state judiciary. Tribunal de Justiça president Laudivon Nogueira highlighted that the program has facilitated about 2,400 marriages and delivered 82,000 citizen‑service interactions across the state since its inception. He emphasized the collaboration between the judiciary, executive branch and local registries in expanding access to citizenship services.

Officials said the collective wedding underscores the program’s role in removing financial barriers to marriage and strengthening civic inclusion throughout Acre.
