Projeto SETA launches e-book on anti-racist and anti-ableist education
Projeto SETA has launched a free e-book titled ‘Orientações de acessibilidade antirracista na educação’ (Anti-racist Accessibility Guidelines in Education). The launch event took place at the headquarters of Geledés – Instituto da Mulher Negra in São Paulo.
The publication introduces an intersectional approach by integrating anti-ableist practices with anti-racist efforts to promote equity in schools. Luciana Ribeiro, an education specialist for Projeto SETA, noted that racism and ableism are not separate oppressions but rather mutually reinforcing forces that exacerbate challenges for Black people with disabilities.
Designed for school administrators, educators, and those committed to inclusive training, the digital material provides strategies for daily school routines. Key focuses include the integration of assistive technologies, team training for equity, and reducing vulnerabilities caused by accessibility barriers and socioeconomic inequalities. The e-book includes interactive resources such as links to videos and relevant legislation.
