Prokopis Pavlopoulos opposes superficial constitutional revisions
Former President of the Republic and Constitutional Law professor Prokopis Pavlopoulos has voiced strong opposition to superficial constitutional revisions. In an interview with Antonis Tzavara, Pavlopoulos emphasized that the Constitution serves as the fundamental charter and the peak of the legal order, noting that it is inherently strict and should not be revised like ordinary laws.
Pavlopoulos warned against the practice of pursuing constitutional changes merely to alter political agendas or to avoid the proper implementation of existing provisions. He expressed concern regarding the current state of democracy and freedom, suggesting a regression in these values. Furthermore, he criticized perceived pressures on the judiciary, stating that the judicial branch is reaching a point where it yields to the whims of the executive power.
