The U.S. Department of Justice reached a settlement worth at least $1 million with Paul Vaughn, a Christian father of eleven who was arrested after a 2021 peaceful protest at the Carafem abortion clinic in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. Vaughn was convicted in January 2024 of a misdemeanor violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and a felony conspiracy charge, facing up to 10½ years in prison and a $260,000 fine.
