PROMESE/CAL launches card payment pilot at Farmacias del Pueblo
The Essential Medicines Program and Central Logistics Support (PROMESE/CAL) has launched a pilot program to implement credit and debit card payments at its Farmacias del Pueblo network. The pilot began at the Ciudad de la Salud branch.
The initiative aims to streamline services and improve operational management. The first phase of the expansion will include 20 strategic pharmacies across the country, followed by an additional 30 branches, with the ultimate goal of achieving nationwide coverage.
Hamlet Almanzar, Director of Technology at PROMESE/CAL, stated that this digitalization effort provides a more agile and secure payment alternative for citizens seeking essential medicines. He noted that the project unifies sales records across units, allowing for real-time data analysis to improve inventory management and distribution logistics.
