Promese/Cal to add 34 million units of medication to supply chain
The Essential Medicines Program and Central Logistics Support (Promese/Cal) announced the incorporation of 34 million units of acetaminophen and omeprazole into its supply operations this week. This initiative aims to strengthen medicine availability within the Farmacias del Pueblo network.
The shipment includes 19 million units of 500mg acetaminophen and 15 million units of 20mg omeprazole, which is primarily used for gastrointestinal conditions. These additions are part of a scheduled supply and replenishment plan to meet user demand.
Additionally, Promese/Cal reported that its central warehouses maintain stocks of medications for hypertension and diabetes, providing an estimated coverage of up to seven months. While these quantities are held in central inventory, immediate availability at specific Farmacias del Pueblo locations may vary based on local demand and monthly replenishment processes.
