Promipyme Director proposes results-based communication for MSMEs
Fabricio Gómez Mazara, Director General of Promipyme, has proposed a results-based communication model for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Dominican Republic. Speaking at the XIX International Congress of Political Communication, Gómez Mazara argued that institutional communication must move beyond generic announcements to demonstrate how sector demands translate into tangible, quantifiable public measures.
A central goal of this proposal is to improve ‘attributability,’ allowing business owners to directly link economic improvements to specific state decisions. This shift aims to address the current asymmetry where the state announces financing and training, but the communication flowing from MSMEs to policymakers remains fragmented and weak.
MSMEs represent 96% of the national productive fabric, generate over 61% of employment, and contribute 32% to the GDP. Gómez Mazara highlighted recent achievements, including increasing the public procurement quota for MSMEs from 20% to 30% and growing the Promipyme portfolio to RD$11,248 million. He also emphasized the need to integrate traceability and artificial intelligence to better channel the territorial needs of the productive sector.
