Promipyme distributes RD$130 million in loans to entrepreneurs in Duarte

The National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (Promipyme) has distributed RD$130 million in loans to 480 micro-entrepreneurs and business owners in San Francisco de Macorís, Duarte Province.

Promipyme Director General Fabricio Gómez Mazara reported that 54% of these specific funds were allocated to businesses led by women. This initiative is part of a broader institutional effort to promote female economic empowerment and close gender gaps in financial inclusion. Nationally, Gómez Mazara noted that the institution has disbursed RD$21.95 billion during the current administration, with 51% of those total funds benefiting female-led enterprises.

The event, held at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), included participation from the Governor of Duarte Province, Ana Xiomara Cortés Marte, who stated that the financing aligns with President Luis Abinader’s economic development plans for the region.
