Promipyme distributes RD$55 million in loans to San José de Ocoa entrepreneurs
The National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (Promipyme) has distributed RD$55 million in credits to 265 entrepreneurs and micro-business owners in the province of San José de Ocoa.
According to Promipyme Director General Fabricio Gómez Mazara, 65% of the total loans were granted to women, highlighting increasing female leadership within the SME sector. The funding is intended to strengthen local initiatives in tourism, agriculture, industry, commerce, and services.
This initiative is part of a broader government policy to expand credit access to local communities to foster economic diversification and job creation. During the current administration, Promipyme has accumulated total disbursements of RD$20,637 million.
